Easy to share
Use a phrase on a business card, in a conversation or in an approved contact notice.
PhraseID
Choose a phrase people can remember and type instead of sharing a long Hat code. PhraseID gives professional contacts a simpler route into your private channel.
No phone number or email required for core Hat use.

The useful difference
Use a phrase on a business card, in a conversation or in an approved contact notice.
Register and manage a PhraseID for the applicable Hat in the app.
The app checks phrase availability and the naming rules. Limits depend on the plan.
How it works
Open the PhraseID control for the Hat you want people to reach.
Follow the displayed length, word and availability rules.
Give contacts the phrase. Independently verify the person behind it for sensitive work.
Know the boundary
A memorable alias is a lookup route, not proof of a person’s legal identity. Phrase lookup and registry data have a different boundary from encrypted conversation content.
Review the security evidenceQuestions, answered
Open City of Hats to review the controls available for your client, content and plan. The app shows applicable requirements before you proceed.
Verify the recipient, use a supported device and choose appropriate access and retention rules. Review the Security Evidence Center for boundaries and evidence status.
City of Hats is free to use. Feature availability and limits vary by plan and client. Premium is optional; review current limits in the app or on the plans page.
