Open the messenger and choose how people will reach you. No phone number or email is required for core Hat use.
Connect with a contact
Exchange a Hat ID or PhraseID. Verify the intended person through a trusted separate route when the information is sensitive.
Choose your controls
Message, call or share a file. Select the controls appropriate to the content and the recipient’s supported device.
Know the boundary
Choose controls with clear expectations.
Encryption protects the documented Hat communication path. Unlocked or compromised devices, recipient copies and network metadata remain relevant. SMS, third-party inboxes, bots and other integrations have separate data boundaries.
